Is the Bob Lake to Small Lake portage (1420) still accessible and easy to find? I have two maps and one doesn't show it! I'm thinking of taking the Diamond Lake portage (1120) into Bob and then taking the Small Lake portages back out into Diamond. Will I run into problems? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks! It doesn't get a lot of use, so may be difficult to locate and travel on..... You could try to locate and check it out. If it looks too dicey, then use the other portage into Diamond,. That one is well used. Someone else here may have been on it recently and have some advice. |

Thanks ed! Here's hoping that somebody knows; regardless, I will probably give it a good look and report back here. |

Was there in 2000 and had no troubles. Was on the first portage in 2006 and again no troubles. There's an awesome rock formation on the west side of Small to reward your effort! |

Awesome curly! I'll take the time to check it out and hopefully my group won't perform a mutiny if it's too hard to cross. |

Apparently a group got through this portage recently with no problems. Thanks to those at the Finlayson Point Provincial Park office for investigating for me! I would use names but I lost the voicemail. B |

Thanks Fireman! Nikita is now 13 years old and has trouble getting up the stairs. But if she knows I'm headed out in a canoe she is right there. She's known far and wide across Temagami. Originally a sled dog with Keith Blissett in Marten River in 1998(!), she was given away, lost, found again, and given away again to me in '99. She's been the perfect dog ever since, great in the canoe, ski-joring, with the kids, you name it. Even the cat is starting to show her respect! BTW, Bob Lake is the one and only place she ever fell out of a canoe, in 2000. PS I'm a firefighter too, North Bay. |
