Bigwolf and Hotplate (and a few others) were chatting about ideal campsites for kids back in May. http://www.ottertooth.com/discus/messages/3/37033. html I'm trying to get some more info on one of the sites, a beach on Island Lake. Does anyone know the exact location? |

Nevermind. I found the one you guys were talking about. Awesome spot. We spent the afternoon there (daytrip from North Bay), and we'll go back for sure for some overnights. Quiet lake, large (100 m long) beach, nice campsite with old growth cedars, small cabin about 1/2 km away on the island. Bigwolf, I also saw the beach that your cabin is at, very nice. Great spot to start a Temagami River daytrip too. |

If you have a chance fish the first ripple as you leave the lake and enter the Temagami River heading west.. Awesome for walleye and bass. Also the hidden lake on the right after the little cottage on the island (narrows, watch for rocks...) monster pike and bass... Gord the lodge owner at the landing is a great guy..tell him Frank sent you if you go by for worms, minnows or anything... Saw some elk there last week, first time in 43 years... |
