Does anyone know whether there are spots where we could camp on the Gervais Road? I tried Rocky's in Capreol, but they are full. |

There are no other commercial lodges up the Gervais past Rocky's. So, as alscool says. |

you could camp at the poupore bridge (see ottertooth map) over the wanapitei. the tree planting operations use it for 20+ tents but they were gone as of 2 days ago. |

We ended up getting lost and camping in Capreol. The kids at Opie's, where you buy permits, told us that we could camp anywhere, so we kind of did. We found a gravel road at one end of town and basically put up our tent at the side of the road. In the middle of the night, a bunch of party animals also showed up and parked about 50 metres down from us. They cranked up the dance music and partied for an hour or so until the RCMP showed up and asked them to leave. Luckily, the RCMP didn't seem to begrudge us our impromptu campsite. Wish we'd known about the poupore bridge site!Next time...next time... |
