I have removed the duplicate posts on your son.

Where on the Red Squirrel is the car parked? Did he have a canoe? Was he alone?

He is alone without ANY gear.
The Dad is up there right now looking for him in the bush near the kids camp.
They think that he may have gone to the "caves" Alex Mathias tells me that the closest caves are near Smoothwater.
OPP are apparently in the air looking for him

I have never heard of a cluster of caves in Temagami. There are the odd cave-like cavities around, particularly in talus slopes. Though not near the Red Squirrel. That one on the island on Anima Nip is actually a mining prospect. But never heard of anyone referring to "the caves."

I just received this from his mother:

"OPP are doing ground and air search, starting from where his car was parked, Red Squirrel Rd. near Camp Wanapitie. He has been missing since Nov. 3th, likely arrived in Temagami on that day. He had mentioned the caves to someone, so we thought this might be a place he would head towards, but are not aware of where this might be. He also mentioned Maple Mtn and the ridge, these areas had flyover done by the OPP yesterday. If you could post this, great, I don't have access at work, thanks for everyone's help !"

There are caves in the talus slope at Ferguson Ridge, just across the bay from Camp Wanapitei, not more than a 20 minute paddle from where this guy's car was found. Not many know about them though.

I bet he's within 10 km of Shishkong.

I gather he was canoeing around Temagami by himself this Summer for a long while and probably knows the immediate area in and around Wanapitei.
I think they checked out the Yurt structure at Paradis Point on Ferguson Bay and it appears to be undisturbed as Dimitri left it.

There is another shelter(refurbishred cabin)on a small lake to the East of Bob Lake.Assuming he has no canoe,he could have walked there along the Red Squirrel Road and then taken the Bob Lake road south to this lake. From the road there is an ATV trail into the cabin. You could easily walk this route in a day. And the cabin may have provisions in it as it is used by a local trapper in the winter.

Less than 5 km from Shish Kong.Travel a bit further south on the Bob Lake road and you are within 2.5 km of the Spirit rock.

On the portage going north out of Shish Kong there are some small caves on your right a bit past the junction of the old growth trails. But these look more like a bear den area than a set of mythical caves.

We hope he turns up soon too ! The responses from everyone is amazing and very helpful in getting info on where to look. FYI, Daniel was up for the summer, very familiar with the area. Was back up for Changing of the Seasons. If anyone was talking with Daniel or heard him say where he wanted to go on his next trip, please post on this site or inform the OPP. I should say the OPP are doing a great job in searching, but still no sightings today. Appreciate all the help.

Also, regarding Spirit Rock, further info provided thanks to dw: http://keepupwithdon.blogspot.com/2011/11/chee-skon-abikong-lake-spirit-rock.html

More on Spirit Rock:
I spoke with Bob O from Friends of Temagami. He is knowledgable of the area and the people. He suggested we look near Spirit Rock - Chee-skon-abikong, as this is a very significant spot and one which Daniel would have found out about at the Ceremony. I will be going back to Obabika this weekend and I will boat over to the site and hike in. We saw no activity at the site last weekend, however, we did not venture back to Chee-skon.
Here are the coordinates..

I believe all of us, who are connected with this aweome website, are saying prayers and asking God, Our Father & Maker, to help us connect with our brother who is a kindred spirit of this great outdoors.

Our prayer~~~~ Dan... we know of your desires to connect to this unbelievable country as it soothes our souls just to think about it. We ask that you make contact with us as we are concerned for your welfare and provisions. Look forward to your trip report! Amen......

Trasker ~ Great photo of a Daniel Boone type-guy.

As a parent this would be my greatest fear. No matter what age, it must be heart-wrenching to not know where your child is. Bryan and I are sending positive vibes/prayers for his safe return. If there is anything we can do to help please let us know.

For those who were at 2011 Changing of the Seasons, does anyone have contact info for the guitar player (purple tshirt in the video)? There are a number of pictures of Daniel with him, particularly on the last day. We would like to talk with him.

If I were planning on staying out in the bush for any length of time, I'd find an empty cabin to stay in - there are lots of options in the area:
I hope someone has checked these locations:
Dimitri's Yurt on Ferguson Bay
Diamond Lake Outpost cabin
Bob Lake Trapper's cabin
Wakimika Lake log cabin (there is still a woodstove in there)
Hap's Cabin on the South Lady Evelyn River

...just my thoughts.

Hang in there...........

The guitar player was Rob Hines.I will try to track him down in Toronto and get him to contact Maureen or yourself.
I beleive that the OPP are searching Obabika /Bob Lakes today?I called them yesterday about the cabin on Bob. Alex Mathias on Obabika is on the look out for Dan as well.

OPP are reviewing this blog for leads, so please keep your suggestions coming. Every lead, every piece of information matters. I'm not sure what the search plans are for today (Bob Lake was checked yesterday), but believe everyone is doing everything possible.
FYI, trasker is Maureen and Don Trask, we are the concerned parents, appreciate all the help.

The OPP chopper is on Obabika right now.
Some snow on the ground so tracks may be visible.
