Update: Tks Paul, not sure if this camp was checked or not, every lead counts ! Also, checking with area trappers at Paul Lake. Daniel was missed at the Trask Family Christmas gathering today, everyone's hoping and praying he's safe. Full moon tonight, Daniel liked to travel at night in the summer up there, by the light of the moon. I contacted Ontario Fishing Community, see they have a forum going as well. Now, we just need someone to SEE him, he's out there somewhere ! |

Hello-- I hesitated to suggest this, but know that the Trask family is doing anything possible to find Dan, so maybe this suggestion for an alternative approach will be helpful or at least feel new.... Some close friends of mine swear by the services of a psychic communicator named Debrae Firehawk who lives in Colorado. She does a number of things, including, apparently, locating lost people/animals. I have not used this service, but wanted to suggest this idea, in case it's something the family would be open to or interested in. Here is her website: http://debraefirehawk.com/home If you click on Services, and then on Psychic Communication, there is information about locating the lost. She provides most of these services over the phone, and has a sliding scale. Take it or leave it; just an idea. I thought that the connection to her through another Temagami-lover may make it feel like more of a reasonable option and less random/out-there. My thoughts are with the family! |

Anonymous: We are open to any and all sources to help find our son. We have a family who has contacted I psychic, I personally have contacted a light/vision expert and we have an excellent reference to a Native seer, so all options are helpful, thanks for the suggestion I will check it out, and appreciate your thoughts. |

Update: Tks shadow for the additional info. We continue to hope, pray, that Daniel is safe, and trying to stay positive/balanced. My sister had a quote she shared at Music 4 the Missing awareness event, "Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst". |

Update: No news of Daniel, but Temagami, North Bay and New Liskeard will be publishing an article in their upcoming papers, helping to get his picture out there. With the warm weather that has arrived again, totally melted now... but keeping the positive vibes flowing. Wish, Hope, Think, Pray |

Update: Today was the Schade Family Christmas Gathering (my side), Daniel was missed deeply. Local papers have been great in publishing articles to get the word and his picture out there including Temagami Talk, North Bay Nugget, Northern News, and Temiskaming Speaker's Weekend Edition - aptly titled "Holding out hope". |

Hello all, I have been following this thread since it was posted on the Algonquin page on facebook. I am sure you have already thought of this or had it suggested but I haven't seen it on this thread so I thought I might add to it. Has anybody thought about contacting Les Stroud Survivorman to see if he was able to help find Daniel? I know it is a long shot and one never knows if he would be able to help but he knows the area from what I have read and heard about him. Anyway, like I said it probably has been mentioned but on the off chance it hasn't I thought I would suggest it. My thoughts are with all of you and I hope that you get some sign, any sign in Daniels whereabouts. Regards, FireGirl |

I contacted the Les Stroud Survivorman folks about this after seeing this idea and they mentioned that Les Stroud was in Temagami a couple of years ago and there is not a plan for them to be filming in that area again any time soon. It's still worth checking out any other pro's who would be willing to assist in the search. Great idea though! |

Did anyone think about getting Terry Grant (Mantracker) to try to find his tracks (I know this should have been done early on because by now, the track are obliterated). |

Les Stroud couldn't find his way to town back when Peter Dale dropped him off in his Citabria for the first show... can't see him being of any help. He doesn't really know the land. |

Update: We were humbled by Hap's willingness to help in our search for Daniel, he is by far the expert of this wilderness area and has good insight into Daniel's quest and/or journey. We appreciate his ongoing help, knowledge and genuine concern. I think Hap knows one or both of the other men mentioned above. Some bits and pieces of stuff I've come across, looking for any and all clues: 1. Possibility: There is a trappers shack at the top of red squirrel river on the hill that belonged to Lindsy Cote, place is out of sight. Was this checked before? 2. There's a Vimeo video of a week in the bush Sept. 24-Oct 1 called "Temagami 2011" http://vimeo.com/30497757 filmed by Matt Perpick & Tony Higgins, which overlaps with when Daniel was up for Changing of the Seasons (Sept. 14-Oct. 3), could they have run into or seen Daniel then? (I'm trying to contact them) 3. Devil's Rock near N Cobalt/Lake Timiskaming, has mining "tunnels", is this a place where someone could stay? A vendor (via another person) thought they might have seen someone like Daniel when shown the flyer at the Cobalt Flee Market a number of weeks back (trying to get more details). Keep your input coming, every bit helps, longshots or otherwise, as a friend of ours would say "it's all good". |

Don't know if this really helps....but regarding Devil's Rock on Lake Timiskaming....here is some online info: According to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil%27s_Rock: "Devil's Rock or Devils Rock is a granite escarpment, located 5 kilometres (3 mi) south of Haileybury, Ontario, Canada. It is dated to be 2,200 million years old and it has a face of 600 feet (180 m) rising 300 feet (91 m) above Lake Timiskaming. People have been rock climbing Devil's Rock in recent years. There are five tunnels in the cliffs face that were made from rock blasting between 1907 and 1912." Video Clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwqVzvDGB-M Info on Devil's Rock Trail from Ontario Trails Council, http://www.ontariotrails.on.ca/trails-a-z/devils-r ock-mani-doo-aja-bikong-trail/ Devil's Rock Description: Visit and hike up the 3 km climb of Devil's Rock to enjoy a beautiful 180 degree vista of Lake Temiskaming from atop a towering cliff. Location: Hwy. 567, Lorrain Valley, ON (Telephone #: 1-705-647-6771 Website: www.ontariotrails.on.ca As I said I don't know if this helps....and seems a bit far for Daniel to have traveled to from where his car was found....
