Hi folks, I'm reconsidering my trip to the Sturgeon this July given that I think water levels will be outrageously low. I just got back from a four-day trip in Algonquin, and I'm a little disturbed at the levels there. Anyone have thoughts on whether low water levels in July will detract from a Sturgeon trip in a significant way? Thanks,

we went down the sturgeon last august from gervais landing to pilgrim triangle in "outrageously low water levels" and it was as you would expect: portaging what you would normally drag over, dragging over what you would normally track, and tracking all the rapids you would normally run. none of this really bothered us much but it depends on what you're after. |

I'll be on the Sturgeon July 1st, so I'll probably have better luck than you. Tks. |

Scott - would love to go in June, but I need to wait for my son to finish his exams. Should be there June 28 or so. |

yellowcanoe, there's a station at Upper Goose falls and you can watch levels and compare them to 2011. Bear in mind that first 2 weeks of the last July water was uncommonly high. The link is http://www.wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/graph/graph_e.html ?stn=02DC012 then you have to find the station on Google maps. Good luck! Sergey |
