Three dots like that is a math symbol meaning 'therefore'. If Daniel is a mathie...? It's totally an Eye Of Providence. In a pyramid like that, totally. |

preacher: Daniel was not into math, but you did remind me what this meant - he mentioned it, but I couldn't remember. Recently, he was into quantum physics, fasinated by Brian Greene, Fabric of the Cosmos and The Elegant Universe. |

Update: Week 20, what an amazing week, feels like spring didn't happen and we skipped right into summer. Glad it's warm for Daniel, winter has been remarkably mild, even up north. Yesterday I spoke with the local detective assigned to Daniel's case, but no word or leads. So, we will be contacting the OPP to discuss next steps, knowing a search is in order once the ice is gone. We've had a lot of interest expressed in helping to search, we just need to ensure it is organized and coordinated; this is a whole new experience and unknown for us. But, with the help of those skilled in doing this type of search work, hopefully these efforts will prove beneficial in finding Daniel. Continue to keep all eyes and ears open if you are in the area. We are keeping the faith with hope in our hearts, and prayers for his wellbeing, day by day. |

Update: Week 21, still no signs of Daniel. Our search plans are being developed. We spoke with the OPP this week; they will be kept in the loop, but we need that ice to go away first ! Update: Week 22, 5 months and still no news of Daniel. Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting friends of Daniel's that he met during the summer while canoeing in Temagami. Please continue to lookout for Daniel if you are in the area. |

Update: Week 23, good news is that ice is out on Obabika and Temagami Lakes. http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/Seasons/Spring/ breakup-2012-17.htm So, we will be finalizing search plans, focusing on some cliff areas that Daniel climbed in the summer, including shoreline and other spiritual areas we believe he may have been intested in seeking out. Spring, the season of renewal, brings us renewed hope for finding Daniel. |

Update: Week 24, still no signs of Daniel, so spring search plans are formulated: - Don will be leaving Mon. Apr. 23 with 4 others, Don's boat plus one other, both motorized - will have a satellite phone and GPS - have contacted Jeff at Camp Wanapetei, this will be home base - starting Tues. Apr. 24, conduct shoreline search, from Sandy Inlet, Ferguson Bay working down west and east sides - Sun. Apr. 29-May 4, our other son Adam, will be coming up with 2-3 firefighters to help search - will checkout Napolean Mtn and Ferguson Mtn areas - if no signs, will look further down each shoreline, including pictograph sites, Devil Mtn, and Devil Bay - by May 4, will reassess, determine canoe/inland areas to search, and next steps. The only other thing: I found when reviewing Daniel's maps, markings/arrows around the Esters in the top part of Lady Evelyn Lake, above Angler Lake. Anyone aware of this area or if this area would be habitable through the winter? I know it's north of the area we originally envisioned, but curious why he had this area marked on his map. This searching is a totally new experience for us. Please let us know if there are any other areas anyone thinks we should consider, knowing we are likely looking for Daniel's remains, unless a miracle happens. We continue to pray for one. Knowing the folks on this forum are concerned and very supportive, I will try and provide more regular updates as the spring search efforts unfold. |

My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family and all the other wonderful people who are helping in the search. I hope from the bottom of my heart the search proves positive. No matter what the situation, if there is hope, there's a chance. I want to share a really nice quote with you and wish that it brings some additional faith and positive thoughts to you in your search: "Hope is the companion of power, and mother of success; for who so hopes strongly has within him the gift of miracles" - Samual Smiles.

I went through Goodfish and Angler lakes a few years ago and there was a hunt camp on one of them in decent shape (sorry I can't temeber which one for sure, but I think Angler is more likely). It definitely could have been lived in through the winter. From the Red squirrel road one could walk quite a way through the Muskego area on all the new logging roads in there. Simon |

Hi All: Today is Earth Day and Mother Nature has spoken; she wants us to be patient with her. We are forced to postpone our initial spring search for Daniel to at least April 28 or 29th due to high winds, not conducive for water travel/search. More info will follow as our revised plans unfold, all depends on Mother Nature. |

Spent a week around Thieving bear lake and north to 3 sisters in that general area as well as Net lake last fall with nothing to report. Back to Net this weekend with open eyes. |

Tks gearguy for the info and being on the lookout for Daniel. When were you up there in the fall, was it after Nov. 3? For all on this forum, if you are planning to be there, please let us know and keep an eye out for signs of Daniel. That will help us in our search, knowing what areas have been checked. |

Apr. 29, depends on winds, proceeding with initial plan noted above. Feel free to email me at trasker@rogers.com if preferred over posting details here. |

Update: Week 25, if Mother Nature agrees, hubby Don, son Adam, and 3 friends will be leaving this Sunday for Temagami to begin our spring search for Daniel. Regarding the markings/arrows around the Esters in the top part of Lady Evelyn Lake, above Angler Lake. My mistake, this was not Daniel's map, it was shared with us a while back by a friend, I forgot this was a loaned map, belonging to them; sign of getting old or just too much on the brain. On another note, the Candlelight Vigil Supporting Families of Missing Adults was held this evening, a vigil of hope, an abundance of support, glad we were part of it.

I just heard from Don, they have all arrived safe and sound, boat worked just fine. They are moved in, setup, woodstove started and ready for a good night's sleep to be refreshed and ready for the search to begin tomorrow. |

Day 1 search: Just got a call this morning from Don, yesterday they searched the base of the rocks/cliffs around Ferguson Mtn, also did some shoreline search, nothing yet. More firefighters (friends) arrived yesterday. They ended their day with an outdoor steak BBQ for all 11 of them. All are fed this morning, and ready to go out and search - be safe! |

Day 2 search: Team spent 6 hours in the bush yesterday, covering about 12 sq miles. The finished searching - hard treking, Ferguson Mtn, including the back part. There was a spot on top that Daniel was possibly there, but could have been from the summer, no other signs. Adam and firefighters will be coming home tonight (shift tomorrow) and will have some pictures to share. Two other friends are heading up tomorrow afternoon. We appreciate all the help we are getting to find Daniel. |

Day 3 search: Napoleon Mtn, including portage, and Barmac Lk were searched by team, no signs. Son Adam and firefighters returned home safe and sound last night. Weather is warming up. Two friends are going up this afternoon to join my hubby Don, more to follow once I get an update this evening, were planning to cover Ashton Ridge. Adam, on Ferguson Mtn, 2012.05.02

Update: Week 26, Mother Nature has been kind, but ground search is daughting undertaking. A friend has volunteered to get our message out to the paddling community and other folks who will be in the area, emphasizing that we need your help, together we can make this happen. Daniel was known for leaving "signs" for us, we just need to understand the meaning. Adam shared a photo of one they found on Day 2: "There was a marker pointing from Ferguson Mountian partway up the cliff it was a stick pointing west (slighty south)", here is the photo. peterme: Thanks for sharing the trip plans on this forum. We hope others will do this too, and report back if they noticed anything, or not. That way, we can track what areas have been covered and eliminate these from our search. |

I should have mentioned, that Daniel is missing for 6 months now, the North Bay Nugget published an update on Apr. 30th. "Thanks" to Kim Cowan for getting an update email out (see FOT site; info will be posted on this site as well). It explains what to look for, how to trip/info, and provides contact information. Please post your information here, or alternatively email: find.dan@rogers.com Day 4/5 search(Thur/Fri): 2 friends arrived Thursday evening to join the search. They did a shoreline search on the west side of Ferguson Bay, following down to where it meets the North Arm. Good weather for water search, but no signs of Daniel. |
