We are comimg in August to do the Cassels/Blueberry Lake area.
Where is there safe parking in town?

Parking in town is pretty safe all over. Temagami's crime rate is pretty low, so I don't think you will have to worry about break ins or theft. The parking is also free which I find absolutely ridiculous being a local tax payer. I know when I go south to T.O I pay for my parking, so what goes around should come back around. Anyhow, parking by the mini putt will give you the chance to put your canoe in Cassels, go park, and make a short 10 min. walk back to the lake. There is no attendent who will watch your car, but like I mentioned earlier the kids in town are pretty good overall. Your car will not be the only one in the lot, so there is safety in numbers should something occur. |

What about parking at the Govt boat ramp out at the west end of the North arm? Any problems there? I've heard of vandalism up at Sandy Inlet.
What is the launch like there?

We are driving up from Maryland on August 11 - taking the super slow road and figure we will be there by the beginning of the week. Plan on spending a couple of weeks in the area.

To answer my own question, Govt dock was great, very busy but plenty of parking. Launch was fine even for 19' boat. Parked fro a week- no trouble.

Wish we had known about the boat launch. The extra 1 hour paddle into a head wind to Temagami Marine was something I didn't need on Friday.
Fortunately, we missed the storm.....hope no one got caught in that !!!!!!! |
