I'm selling my Peterborough Minetta wood canvas canoe. The Minetta was produced by Peterborough from 1954 to 1961. It is 15 feet long, 33 wide and 12 deep amidships. It weighs 65 pounds. With its narrow beam and fine entry lines, it is a dream to paddle. Great solo canoe or tandem day tripper. All Minettas would have Model #1815 in serial number.

The canoe I have for sale has serial #3626 1815c.originally I found it onlinec..great shapec.all original ribs and plankingc.had been recanvassed a few years before bought (not sure how long and had originally planned to recanvas myself last winter)c.all in all, the canoe was (and is) in very good shapec.original plan was to at least revarnish interiorc.recane seats (seats are currently gut)c.and to recanvascand paint green instead of original redc.which I did (repainted original canvas and revarnished)

As originally bought:

Work done on Minetta plus canoe finished and on water can be seen on these Facebook albums:

I bought the canoe for $1200 last yearc.and originally just refinished (repainted and revarnished) to get on water (used the Minetta in Instructorfs course and at Canadian Canoeing Symposium CANOE 10 at Palmer Rapids, as well as at youth camp and on limited tripsc.not used since June)c.canoe is currently with Bruce Smith (paddle maker and canoe builder/restorer) awaiting new canvas, slight restoration (if needed)c.can be repainted any colour buyer wishesc.and seats can be recanedc.new stem bandsc.and woodwork entirely revarnished. OR sold as is if wanted to do as work project or have done by someone else (preference is to have Bruce Smith do work since canoe in his shop).

Reason for sale is that I have a 15 ft. canoe built by Bruce Smith that I equally love (canoe that is seen in header and in Flickr Photostream here on my blog)c.and I am adding other canoes to collectionc.just canft justify two 15 ft. canoes; the Minetta is a great canoe and deserves a good home AND to be usedc.the Minetta is watertight and great shapec.original brass hardwarec.. great interior patinac..Minetta has a moderate rocker, good tumblehome and the factory shoe keelc.very solid canoe, no dry rot foundc.must be seen to appreciatec..asking $2800 CDN. if restored/recanvassed by Bruce Smithc.or asking $1200 as is (for what I originally bought canoe for).

Paddles up until later thenc.and maybe one of you may be paddling a fine Peterborough Minetta wood canvas canoe soon.

I'll even throw in a Peterborough Canoe Co. sweatshirt and hat (both green) as well as a copy of a 1950s catalog.
