I have a few posts but I figured I'd make a formal hello here and post my favorite funny story from our canoe tripping (mostly it's funny because it *someone else's* silly mistake instead of my own for once ;) (there are far too many of those to recount)) First, I'm slightly past 40yo and am a lifelong Temagami cottager and for the last 20 years canoist. I am very pleased to have stumbled across these forums. They're a treasure trove of info and awareness. Anyway, on to the funny part. Circa 1999 we spent the morning portaging northward from Obabika through towards Bob lake. We stopped to have a long lunch on a small point before heading for the portage in Diamond. A young couple come onto the lake from the same direction about 45 min later. We watch them unload about a hundreds yards West of us on the North shore of Bob and we talk for just a moment that they must have aslo wanted to find a little rest stop. so we think no more of it as we spend the next hour or more preparing some pasta and drying our boots from the bog that had gotten to us on an earlier portage. We look back to the west and note the young couple are nowhere to be seen. "Hmm.......they must have gone past us while we weren't looking", I think. Finally we load back into the canoes and head around the corner turning northward on the lake toward the trailhead. As we turn the corner we see the same young couple unloading their gear onto the shore still on Bob. ...They look at us. We look at them and it become obvious that they they *thought* they were unloading into Diamond butinstead had just bushwhacked across 500 meters of brush into the same lake. No words were exchanged as our group arrived at the portage at the same time. It was obvious from the man's facial expression that he found no humor in the situation. We were at least polite enough to save our chuckling (then outright laughter) until they were out of earshot heading away on Diamond. Anyway, I am sure I could tell just as many stories with myself or my group as the butt of the joke, but where's the fun in that? ;) Nice to be here on Ottertooth. pete

This Climate Change Protest is particularly disturbing at this time of year. Poor Frosty.
