Whenever I trip I find that ' hazards ' etc. arise and all the pre-trip planning etc. have not prepared me for the unexpected ' problem '. Simple catch phrases have often helped get me through and keep a cheerful attitude. You know how it is when you have weeks at a time of almost steady rain...when a canoe wraps around a rock like a wet blanket...when you are all set to fly out to your put in place and the airline informs you your flight has been cancelled... In the ' old days ' we often would smile and say " sometimes you get the bear...sometimes the bear gets you! " Here is one I used the other day: " Even a turtle doesn't get ahead until he sticks his head out! " I am sure my good buddy canoebear [ your birthday card is in the mail - turtle mail - but you will not get it until next month. ] can give us a saying or two. Anyone else? The Turtle

"pine cone throwen" From dusk, till dawn. Wer all in 'tis thin together, that be "to keep whats left of tha Wild NE intact". just different outlooks/or attitudes reachen tha same aim. Good to clear tha air, once & agin. Otter families that play fight together, stay together. If rough play time be tha glue of family Otterhead life, 'tis here be a sticky canoe portage crew on board, that I look-UP-to. While we air out our differences of who all done what, our enemy cutters don't. Ther razor sharpenen ther axes as we speak-out loud. Standard Bearer of any movement of sorts should help those who falter/or whom go off adrift. Give them sum extra support that may be needed & move on with it. Every-1 be graded a bit different on what they be able to do. Sumtimes other members stick ther hiken boot in ther mouth & cross a foreign boundary & all hall brakes loose. I no that mouth from tha south guy very well, & I own-up to it If we fall apart sum will end-up as dead fall. May cause good view to fall away ferever. Seems like unlucky members be faden away weekly. Lets fix what be fractured. Hope everythin 'tis alscool now, Heya! |

"Bad Seed" Here's 1 fer tha book's! Be a master of yer petty aunoyances & conserve yer energies fer 'tis worthwile thin of "safe guarden trees". It ain't tha big mountain ahead that wears 1-out, 'tis tha grain of sand in 1's Timberline boot, he can't get out. 1 may hav tha 2 step thin down pat, but don't be a [fooled of trail], & let an obstacle thin, trip U_UP. Boy Scout Motto; Be prepared, lead by example & if U wanna be a big chief play tha part. Bad Seeds always show ther so called, true north colors, & in tha end, end-up do-en themselves-in. We'll all wait and watch tha waves come-in. Whatever tha waves bring-onto shore, they sooner/or later take-back, out to tha deep. Meant no harm/or step on any-1 afoot, but just don't want any spoilen view of sun go-en-down. 'Tis clear-cut to me that we wood stay focused of foliage that lays down ahead, Heya! |

"weather vane" Now that tha stormy winds hav died-down, 'tis time to respond in a civil + respectful-way. Never to waver in 1's firm choice, when wind waves be tossen tandem canoe round, while tha sun-goes-down. If I had it my way chris, we wood all weather tha big storm at sea together, as a team intact, & put sound bites of breaken waves that impact tha rock filled shore line to tha wayside & canoe-on to our take-out end at a sandy beach. We depend on each other to reach our flickeren light objective seaside. We can achieve climate in vain, but sumtimes weather 'tis thrust upon us. No clear cut winners here, we all got sumwhat cutback. Tha calm aft tha storm, brings on calm mirrored waters in evenen that will glitter tha Full Moon shine tha next couple nights. Lets all engross in it's northern reflection. Tha arrow on weather vane designates tha direction wher tha mighty wind is comen from & lets us no wher to make a last tree stand, Heya! |

"Deliverance Endeavors" Penetrable NE Wilds be woodwise? May not be a True North directection, level/or on-line path & paddle course in tha maken. Ther be bends + curve fiascoes of stoppage floaten down a mix of moven currents & whirlpools. And as far as ragen rapids goes, ther be fear factored-in with risky dared-2 battle rival wash-out straits that lie just ahead. What bout them ther quiet water loops with-in a thousand island puzzle maze bewilderment. Try-en to keep a Brave face on to prevent crew panic of be-en lost/or temperately disorientated fer hours. And let us not ferget bout tha real enemy at large, be-en tha wind of change at hand, to chance. Wher a rogue wind wave has tha explosive power force to upend, overturn/or tipover, with it's strong will, will fer sur upset trips. In addition, tha snags of whirl-wind-effect on portage trails cause obsticals to get in way of interferen. Wher dangle of tangle of bush deadfalls wood drop upon canoe pack sack canoe carriers & whacken them-up. Be a sur cause of caution to take heed, be mindful of yer glove fit canoe partner, who burdens 1/2 tha load, be better half member of family campaign team. Wher tha safety isn't chanced/nor overlooked. Also, tha element of a surprise encounter with natures awakened wild beasts. 1 nevers no's what tha instinct reactions will be. Be still a mystery, in questioned, of what if? May cause trespassers passen-by to become wary-eyed + hope everythin be on same sane page. Then to reach take-out-end-intact, 1's carry-on be strapped down + trimmed abit with both edgy Ed.B outdoor savvy & sum bent-shaft determination of a fix plan purpose, that be checked-out, measured, as well as, seasoned tested over tha years. No-en yer UP NORTH, then right to move far beyond tha unfriendly edge. Haven tha sureness of hardihood with sum 6 sense of Injun Creed in 1's self. Deliberate defer, to think things out, thorough-go-en, before bringen a carry move enteren tha Wilds. To deliver voyagers past of enigma's & enemies unknowns. In our detoured destiny's, we tend to make/or break our own luck, Heya!
