Yes Ed... canoebear's story is so sad and unfortunately there are too many tragic encounters between grizzly bears and people.
The friend of my wife's best childhood friend's sister in Maine was killed by a grizzly in Glacier the same season as one of our trips out in the park. I broke out in a cold sweat on being told this sad news.

I painted turtle crossed our drive this morning and went under our porch!
My wife and I had moments earlier finished planning our 2007 "Fleeten Pleasure of Autumn Fall" trip out West - Glacier, Bear Tooth Mts, Big Horn Mountains, and ofcourse, Lame Deer!!

She is doing great...looks like we might just might downsize our 2007 "Fleeten Pleasure of Autumn Fall" trip out West and turn it into a shorter version for late Spring 2007...need to pick some more sage and sweetgrass sooner than later.

I've coached and led a lot of kids in my life,
and Canoebear, never stop sharing, Please... for
in a lifetime of trying to inspire kids,
I've sometimes sat staring into the fire,
and been unable to "extract" the right words, at the right moment, that might have made the precise difference,I sought, and they required.

Man... do I wish I had that-insight-at-my-disposal, just once or a Thousand Times....
