Hi just trying to track down a canoe tripping camp that my brother attended 20 plus years ago.
I think it was based in Temagami and he would have been in his mid teens. Have been googlin' but haven't had much luck. Any one ? |

The link gives the names of all of the canoe tripping camps that worked out of Lake Temagami over the years. If the name of the camp isn't in that list then your brother likely did not go to a Temagami based camp.
Lot's of camps come from other locations and just trip in the Temagami area.

There was no Camp Voyageur in Temagami, but I believe there was, or is, one near Algonquin Park. |

I am the owner/director of Camp Voyageur in Ely, MN. My dad started our camp in 1951, and while our database is work in progress we do know where most of the men who went here have ended up. Plus we know the names of all the boys who have gone here. If you want to tell me the name and approx dates the guy may have attended camp I can check it against our database. My brother and I were campers at Camp Voyageur about 45 years ago (!!!!). The camp was west of Algonquin park. He tripped in Algonquin and I tripped in Temagami. We were bussed up there.

Delighted to see the discussion about Camp Voyageur!
Allow me to add, rather late, to Brian's and tumpliner's posts.
Opened in the 50's and operated until about the early 80's (not certain), mainly by phys ed teachers from Barrie and area. I've still got a brochure and photo tucked away at home.
Base camp was NE of South River on Kawawaymog Lake.
I attended the Algonquin trip in 1965 with the following route:
Amable du fond River, North Tea, Manitou, Kioshkokwi with stop at Kiosk, Cauchon, Cedar with stop at Brent, Nipissing River, Biggar, North Tea and back.
More nestalgia - the CN line was still operating on the west shore of Cedar and our four canoes did a paddle salute to a passenger train, getting a few blasts from the air horn in return! For any other "alumni" the trip leaders were Kent and "Spider".
The year 2,3 & 4 trips were: Temagami, Kipawa, and Quetico.
Again, not certain of closing date and can't recall the last time I saw their booth at the "Sportsman's Show".
You've got a good "site" - glad I paddled in.
