Collins Inlet is not the most scenic paddle, but out on the Georgian Bay is amazing. Enjoy yourself canoebear. I do hope that you get to see some wildlife.

All packed-up & ready to go off to get lost
in tha quiet hush wher no 1's in charge.
Head north 1st light, then may Bear farther east.
Enter into wild canoe country to hear
"Talken Brothers" tails slap echo's across
pristine blue lake waters.
Wander into tha wild under tha full of moon
till tha lamp over-head dims, then fades-away,
be our-way, Heya!

Best of all, tha colors of autumn fall!
But,now with tha "Full Hunters Moon" soon to show, moose be fatten-up fer up-cummen hunt.
Since open fields already reaped, wolves,
who peer-out to gleam, can now be traced.
Strong proud moose bellows loudly announcen to all
tha world that he has now arrived.
Echoed bellows heard by tha wolf, who has tha ability to pass unseen, now goes to tha call.
Tha wolf is a great pathfinden teacher, who isn't
afraid to go off to explore many NE foreast path trails before cummen back with shared adventures with his own pack.
Experience life 1st, then teach, be true wisdom,
hey Paul!

"Claim Territory Boundaries"

'Tis when tha members of tha wolf pack
gather to hunt, they greet each other &
begin to howl out-loud.
Ther howlen may becum much loud, which warns
other stray wolves to stay out of packs land territory. Not to encroach, intrude/or infringe-on packs claim!
Wolves roam tru ther land until they find weak prey. They tend to inch closer in on it,
may-be in single-file. Then they break into a
run-downed, & chase begins-way.
Timber Wolves must be quick, tireless & clever
to catch most prey-ons.
"To trespass" is to go across, Heya!

One of the most exciting books I read that touches upon the wolf was:

THE TRACKER (ISBN:0425042227)
Brown, Tom, Jr. as told to William Jon Watkins

I think it was in this book or the sequel that Tom talks about " smacking a grizzly " !

Just one more book for your readin education canoebear!

Wolves can get pretty big can't they?

It is the alpha male that Tom writes about that convinces me " not to encroach, intrude/or infringe-on packs claim! "

Best

Paul

"Moose Fever"

Peaked rut activity up-north dampered by
wind rain. Gangly awkward bull moose may
travel up to 4 miles to find cow-mate.
Because of tha wind rain low grey clouds,
travel + vocalization will much be reduced.
Headen north early morn to hike fer 5 days in Hurons before cold snow flies.
Hi-winds punctuated with rain squals most-likely
be much a daily fare fer days ahead, to cum.
But a break in tha low rain clouds may afford us
an opportunity to explore beautiful granit cliffs along Lake Superiors Coast.
Moose don't mind be-en rained-on to much when in route. It be tha hi-winds that hinder movement.
Unsettlen presence of mischief wander-lust
with-in to mountain trudge in wind rain wood seems abit primitive to most, but 1 only lives once.
It be tha "Hunters, Fallen Leaves Moon" that spurred wife & I to trek over Great Lake Hurons in search of tha northwoods monarch,
"eater-of-twigs".
Try to find well used moose-trail so to spot & stalk, while make call-bellow every 10 minutes.
Will be glassen swampy lakes wher yellow marsh hay be ample & wher lots of young tree stands.
'Tis be prime moose country & 'tis is wher we be, heya!

Whereabouts, exactly are you hiking to find the moose canoebear?
I was recently hiking on the high quartzite hills of the La Cloche. We saw no moose up there but much moose poop, which made me wonder, what they were doing up there on those barren rocks.

ed,

'Twas in tha Huron Mountain rough of
Michigan's Upper Peninula wher wife & I
hiked in low light to hear tha chorus howl,
of tha "Wolf Song".
Ther be every bit of 50 Timberwolf packs in tha U.P. of Michigan.
After finden track & scat of our best-loved pack,
my off-key strange single separated lonesum/lone howls, produced whole pack rendezvous
"Call to tha Wild'.
My howl started chain-reaction advertisen of tha young 1's howlen followed by careful older members to howl out loud too.
After tha 2nd chorus, night got to quiet hushed,
then reduced to tha silence of tha north agin.
We then made ready fer scout wolf to seek-out & quiet-up on tha 2 lone trespass intruders.
We heard rustler of leaves & twig breaks on high ridge rock over-head & then knew our core had been discovered.
We keeped our quiet & knew savy scout was with-in close range but saw neither head/nor tail of him.
We waited fer half an hour or so then howl-called agin. Heard faint low reply howlen from
far-off ridge, moven away to greater tha distance.
They responded to my fake strange howl by-way
a bluff, by silently moven-away, Heya!

' Midwinter Moon ' shines this month as the creatures of the earth run in the snow from tree shadow to tree shadow to stay out of the sight of the creatures of the air.

Soon it will be what we call ' Moon of Frost in the Lodge '.

We have plenty of wood for the soon to be ' Big Hoop and Stick Game Moon '.

We have a lot of fun then!

Heya!!

"Month When Wolves Run Together"

'Tis time/or period early on when extreme
frigid temperatures merge with snowy north winds that twists with speed of force,
causen frost/or drifts to enter teepees & wigwams. It be this raw icy snow whirlwind twist mix that spreads ground brush apart & keep Black Bears denned-up fer long deep sleep.

May yer leather moccasins make happy tracks
in Big Snow Country under nights-lamp of tha
"Cold Snow Moon", while listen to stir-blend chores of wind & wolf howls, Heya!

"Full Snow Moon Commen"

Much wintery white snow fall piled-up knee deep
this here month. Weather be harsh as hall
around Superiors North Shores, wher giant
lake waters filled with much spirit meets-up with rugged mountains of pine & birch.
Also called, tha "Full Hunger Moon" cause
'tis hard ragged terrain blanketed with lake
blown snow drifts be strenuous & tough to
track, stalk, pursue, chase-downed, then
drag-back kill to log cabin to finally eat-sum.
Wife & I will be breaken trail on snowshoes with poles & backpacks thru Minnesota's Wild North Superiors National Forests & then Bear north into tha frigid BWCA Silent Wilds.
Canadian lynx hi pitch cry to mate can be heard late night, under the lamped moon light.
We wanna seek-out moose-yards & pack wolves on tha move too. Hope to get it all on film now.
Got 'tis here new fangle SLR camera & wanna shoot
every thing in sight that be breathen/or on tha move.
With deep snows, cougars layed track signs be
proof that, big unruly "Gray Cat Ghost"
can run but can't hide.
Be my (29th) birthday on tha 23rd of 'tis 2nd month & wife Renee wants us to go to tha
Winter Track Festival held on Tha Gunflint Trail. Her gift to me to mush our own dogsled team onto
tha trails of snow white wonderland covered with hush. We'll see? May-be too many people, party gatheren, fer me. Might soil-plaid tha raw natural solitude of it all & scare-off wildlife.
If we stay focused, we'll hit our mark that be
fleet-a-foot & masked.
It be common sense to take method & try it;
if it fails, admit it & try another system.
But above all, don't get side-tracked, just try
a different technique. If 1 really wants it bad enough, he won't stand-by in quiet forever while
tha things to satisfy his needs be within reach.
'Tis be-en experienced, is title name 1 has for
a stockpile hoard of past mistakes he amassed, Heya!

Oh ya, a 29 over-run, fer sur?
Not as old as hillbilly/or ed & overall prettier!
Who tha hall cares any how?
Age is numeral figures overestamated #'s anyway!
As long as 1 can do what 1 luvs to do in life,
thats all that matters, just don't over-kill it to death/or put it in harms-way, be overBearen. Over-aged be over-rippen that over-shadows. Be no more than a bad habit, which I ain't got no time to form a shape too. Mind over matter, hey!
Heck with that, roam wild & free while ya can with-out over-shooten/or over-steppen that nearby over-hange of rock cropped edge.
My parents, teachers, coaches, bosses, laws & wives, all tried to over-power me, so to hav, own
hold, include me/or to keep me under-much-control.
Be advised! 1 must breath in freedom, clearly be an over-match to over-take!
I feel rugged uneven grey granite rock overland, blanketed with broken white birch branches, all sorts of fallen maple leaves & lots of soft evergreen needles under my Timberline overshoe.
I quench my thirst from pristine wild overflow cold moven waters.
Natural sounds overture over-runs, I overhear, keeps my attention over-time.
Tha smell of life & fresh air over-there be overlappen.
Overlooken a mix of changen season of much color
be much overwhelmen. Overcome by tha overnight of full moon lamped light overhead, overmuch an overdose.
To over-print trek thru tha over-reach realm of tha NE Wilds is long over-due over-winter.
Tha NE be mine to over-take, but not to over-stay,
never to be over-ruled.
I am over-wrought plus over-joyed that wife & I will be over-dressed on snowshoes in tha cold snow mountain mix fer 6 days + 5 nights, wher over-crowden & be-en over-develop won't be an over-extended over-throw.
Wild-all-over, to pass-over, Heya Paul!

canoebear,
congrats on the 29th year. About my oldness, well you are only as old as you fell and I still feel in my twenties when thinking about canoeing next year. At times when I am out on a trip the body feels twice as old as it is but the last day of the trip I wish I could stay forever. As you being prettier, well looks is in the eye of the beholder. I look a lot better than my avatar. I hope we can meet one day on a trip and spend some time.
Once again, congrates on the birthday you only have 25 more to catch up to me.
Bill
