2nd Annual KW Canoe Symposium Saturday April 13th, 2013 Princess Twin Theatres Waterloo Ontario 10am - 3pm Mark your calendars! Our 2nd KW Canoe Symposium promises to be as good as the 1st... a partial speakers list includes: Myccr's own Martin Pate - Camping and Canoeing on Crown Land in Ontario KW Photographer Mike Monaghan and Temagami's own Hap Wilson!!! The lineup for the 2nd KwCanoe Symposium is almost set...and it looks great! Special thanks to everyone who recommended speakers....I think it's going to be an exciting day! Our "Tentative" lineup includes: Hap Wilson - I believe Hap will be speaking on the Trans Canada Canoe Trail...but does it matter? He's Hap Wilson!!! Come and hear him! Mark Rubino (aka Mark in the Park) - speaking about his special connection to and passion for Algonquin PP Mike Monaghan - extrordinary canoe based photographer - Mike will also have a display of his work in the Gallery at the Princess Theatre Jeffrey McMurtrie - creator of "Jeff's Map" - The finest map produced for Algonquin trippers Chris Mayne - The story of the "One Kids Place Children's Treatment Center" photo book. All of the pictures are taken in Algonquin Park, Temagami and along the Mattawa & French rivers - Stories by Paul Hoy, Hap Wilson, Kevin Callan, and Becky Mason. Phil Cotton - "Uncle Phil" will be speaking on his passion - "The Wabakimi Project" A seventh speaker has yet to be confirmed....hope to have that news for you soon! Ticket information will be posted as soon as it is available....only 120 seats available! |

Another addition to our speakers list: Leigh Kotsilidis and Linda Besner have been co-organizing the Fish Quill Poetry Boat, a ten-day poetry and music tour on the Grand River, since 2010. Leigh Kotsilidis’s poems have appeared in several literary journals including The Fiddlehead, Prism international and Prairie Fire; and have been anthologized in I.V. Lounge Nights, This Grace and The Hoodoo You Do So Well. In 2009 and 2010, she was selected as a finalist for the CBC Literary Awards. She is also a co-founder of littlefishcartpress. Her first full-length collection, Hypotheticals, came out in 2011 with Coach House Books. She currently lives in Montreal where she works as a freelance graphic designer. Linda Besner is originally from Wakefield, Quebec. Her poetry and reviews have appeared in The Walrus, Maisonneuve, and The Malahat Review among other journals. Her radio work has aired on CBC’s Definitely Not the Opera, Outfront, and The Next Chapter. Her first collection of poetry, The Id Kid, was published in 2011 by Véhicule Press, and was named one of The National Post’s Best Poetry Books of the Year. She lives in Toronto. |
