Wow, freeze-up has started!

Let me try with the location. The South Channel runs up the middle and this is looking west or northwest. Bridal Veil is in the middle ground. In the background is Divide Lake and the North Channel is running off the right side of the map. So below the aircraft is Fatman's.

Look at the satellite photo that can be reached from Ottertooth's Temagami frontpage.

Hi Brian.

Just wondering if you have a link to the web site that you get your "View from space" photos from?

Thanks Brian...space might show it frozen..haven't looked yet... but hoping someone on here has first hand info whether it's thick enough to support a person..or a sled..or a truck yet in the Temagami Basin between the town dock and Island 30 (across from Campfire Island/ Finlayson Point PP)! I have some stuff to get out to the island that would be much easier taking across the ice than via boat.

THANKS, Wayne

On the TLA website http://www.tla-temagami.org/
there are a couple pictures of the town dock taken within the past few days. It looks like the ice is starting to form, but certainly not enough to travel on quite yet. I think you would be well advised to speak with someone in town, maybe at one of the marinas or in the town office, before you travel to Temagami and find that you can't get to your island.

I am wondering if anyone knows the condition (passability) of the Rabbit Lake access road right now? I was told that it had not been plowed at all so far this season.

Does anyone know when and if it will be cleared this season as it is a 16K trek to the Rabbit Lake landing otherwise! In the past two years at least, there has been logging in the area which has kept the road clear.

Lake conditions are awful, too much snow too soon, equals all kinds of slush.
March is usually the best time to drive on the lake. Its forcast to rain tonight so that my help bring the slush to the surface.
Rain at the end of Dec in Northern Ontario, nuts!

Thanks Bush pilot ! Been talking with Kim at Temagami Marine and she says the guy that lives on the first island out from the hwy has been walking back and forth across the ice but other than that it's unsafe. Going to wait it out and see what happens. Need to get a seaplane lift out to the island and would be easier across the ice as it doesn't float without the tanks full of air. If all else fails I guess I will be getting Richmond to barge it out. Cheers, Wayne
