AUGUST 13-16 REUNION OF 2003 Photos by Doc Bourdelais We ate like kings and queens — bison, boar, venison, steak and cornish hens — so incongruous with our memories of the mess-hall cuisine from our canoeing days. About 200 people attended. There were special guests like George and Alex Mathias; camp directors Bruce Hodgins (Wanapitei), Skip Connett (Canadian Adventure Camp) and Dave Knudsen (Northwaters/Langskib); 1930s guide Hector Green; and plenty of islanders, with the Olivers taking the largest count. One of the best aspects, and least tangible, was just seeing old faces (or old legends), catching up, and telling old stories — with new twists. Special thanks to those who made it possible: Fred Reimers, Doug Mosle, Tom Oxholm, Sandy Chivers, Peter Hare, Jeff Schneider, John Lehrman, Warren Beh. Shelly Busch at Ojibway and Alexa Fretz at Keewaydin prepared the feasts. Tim Nicholson and Booth Platt tended bar (and are reputed to have consumed as much as they served).

TRIP IN Alumni all, they arrived at the main dock, with no sprains or broken bones, to kick off the reunion. Bruce Bishop (right) demonstrating he still has the right stuff. |
