Last Winisk Visit

This was the last Section A to go to the old community of Winisk.  The following spring the town was destroyed in a flood and relocated to the present site Peawanuk. The Winisk flood was caused by a spring ice-jam that backed up lots of water, then broke through all at once. Most of the town was evacuated in advance since they knew it was going to happen. Steve Springgate told me he saw it on film and that a huge sheet of ice and water came through and just demolished everything in its path.
