This is the view looking north at the last rapids on the Rupert from one of

two islands at the mouth of the river. Waskaganish is 15 minutes away. We

always stopped for one last break. Steve is examining limestone for fossils. Left to right: Chad Nelson, Steve Springgate, Koben Christianson, Jon McCall, Kyle Dawson, Mike Slemmer (in the hat).

On the abandoned post at Neoskweska:

Neoskweska is on the Eastmain at Lac de la Maree.  It was abandoned in the 40s I think, and I don't know why exactly, but I am under the impression that it is because they closed the Hudson's Bay Post. The clearings are still there, and some abandoned stoves, but not much else at the old site. There is still a large Cree camp on the river.  Again, the fishing there is fantastic, and it is a crossroads of routes in all four directions. Heb and Dan used to pass by here.
