Ice to the landing

OGAMA ISLAND, LAKE TEMAGAMI, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17  I took Suzanne out to the road landing by boat on Tuesday, anticipating that the ice would be hard to break. Evidently there were boats that managed by midday Wednesday. They are hardy souls as it was a brisk minus 18 C with 15-kilometre winds.

This morning the winds were dying and, as you see from the photos (looking west), the lake was freezing. It is cold so I imagine by Friday there will be ice in most places around the lake.

I drove around a bit in the boat, but the ice was too tough from Temagami

Lodge to the landing. As there was no place to go, I pulled it out.

I decided to check the ice to the landing via Phillips Bay. I found two to three inches with some dicey parts. No concern to a fast sled…

So I did! By boat in the morning and sled in the afternoon!
