Posted Mon Dec 21, 2009                                                                         Photo: NASA/NOAA

Only deepest waters open

The first clear day since Thursday, and the image reveals an almost frozen world.

On Lake Temagami, the deepest of the deep are the only open water: South Arm west of High Rock, Hub west of Cattle Island up to Sand Point, Northwest Arm north of Sand Point, North Arm around Rabbitnose Island, and Devil's Bay.

Black open water or thin, clear ice
Dull/ dark blue thin ice with little or no snow cover
Bright turquoise thick ice, snow-covered ice or snow on unforested land  (e.g. clearcuts, farmland)
