There is an old Nastawgan route across the McLean Peninsula (which divides the South from the Southwest Arm of Lake Temagami), and it is still viable to my surprise! It goes from Island Bay to Triangle Bay. 2 fairly short portages with a campsite on the small lake (I believe it’s called Sharp L.) at the western end. |

There is also a portage from the South Arm to Island Bay originating across from the original Camp Temagami at the top of the South Arm. It was in good condition when I hiked it a few years ago. |

The map is from an old Camp Temagami brochure. |

Checked out that portage last week and it is still in good shape apart from a few big blow downs. Someone has been maintaining it with a chainsaw for a long time.
