Take a copy of this map with you when you visit Wolf Lake this year. Take some time to walk the trails, document what you see, and send your concerns to newspapers, politicians, ministers, etc. And send a copy of your concerns to "Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury." clsudbury@live.com, as they have taken the lead to advocate for area.

Legend for the map. The blue star is the site of concern on the east side where new trails are proposed. The white arrows are some of the felled trees. The red arrow is the failed silt fence. The black arrow is the SW access. The big red oval is the approx. space of the large cleared area. The red line is a new trail 2021. The orange lines are widened trails. The yellow lines are smaller trails….the long yellow trail is the easiest to hike to get to the recently damaged areas This is not a complete documentation of the trails.

When you call them trails it could be misunderstood as hiking trails. I presume you are talking about industrial trails built with mechanized equipment? |

Yes. People need to hike them to witness the area. |

Howdy Everyone! it's been a long time since I've been on this forum. Nice to see a lot of familiar faces. I'm heading up in August for 5 days. I want to put in at Matagamasi Lake and head up to Wolf Lake. Two queries... I can't find any information regarding Lakeland Lodge. I had heard they had a big fire. but that may be the old news from 2013. Are they still in existence? If not, is their parking area still functioning? Third query... The MTO sandpit mentioned in the Chiniguchi section. How far off the Kukagami Road is it? The description says it may be particularly hard on tires?? And, finally, my Fourth of two questions. If I park at the Sand Pit, how far a paddle is it North to get to Matagamasi? Hope your feet are dry. I should mention that our daughter has moved to Sioux Lookout and my paddling is more focused up there these days. Especially since I have a little two year-old buddy now. Our granddaughter. Hard to imagine that canoeing could get even better... A little toddler did the trick. ciao. JR |
