I was wondering if there were any significant updates to the condition of the roads leading to Gamble Lake since 2019. In 2019 I was there in August and the road was impassable at the creek right before Gamble Lake. I imagine this is still the case, but I will be going up again in a week and don't want any additional surprises. Any info is appreciated. Nick |

Just got back and figured I would post an update for others. The culvert leading to Gamble Lake was fixed since 2019, so you can drive right to the put-in. We were the only car at the put-in when we arrived, but there were about 6-7 cars there on the way out (long weekend). A number of the cars were from campers who setup on the campsite right at the put-in. We ended up checking out the portage from Florence leading to Airplane. It was in pretty rough condition, but you could make out the trail with the help of hatchet marks left in the older trees. We cleared the landing and first couple hundred meters and will definitely be back with the intention of making it to Horseshoe Lake. I'd be curious to know the last time this area was travelled. Has anyone here made the trip recently? We also made it to Makobe via the long portage through the burn of 2018. Efforts have been clearly made to keep this open and cleared. Still, the first kilometer from Grays River was in pretty rough shape due to recent blowdowns. Feel free to reach out with any questions about these areas. Nick |

If memory serves me right, tearknee reported traveling the Airplane portage (either here or on myccr), but that was some years ago. |

Thanks, I'll search for that post. I also found a post from 2009 by shearjoy who made the trip. |
