Considering a 5-6 night trip this August, starting at Little Eagle Lake access, heading through Turner Lake and ideally making a loop into Lady Evelyn and up to Sugar Lake, then returning through Turner and back to Little Eagle access point. Seeking input on portage conditions through Turner - Avery - Barter - Dead Tree - Isbister. Also seeking input on portage conditions from Sirdevan - Goss - South East Bay (Lady E) and from Goss to Ferguson, and from Isbister to Nichol. Any great campsites (group of 8 of us) and/or great lakes for swimming?

We completed a trip in this area last year. The stream that takes you to Barter was not navigable (too shallow) last year and it was not walkable as it was deep mud. We had to walk the shoreline for almost the whole stream. The shoreline was tall grass mounds and pockets of deep mud. It was very challenging and we vowed to never do it again lol. We found portages from Barter to Isbister were very overgrown and hard to find. If we were to go to this area again (which we would because it was a very quiet route) we would go south and take the portages over to Sirdevan from Turner instead of taking the route through barter. The portages from Turner to Barter were easier to find and navigate. Overall it was a beautiful area with fairly rugged portaging.

Thanks for the trip info. It will come in handy as we are thinking of doing a very similar route.
