Planning this trip for mid to late Aug this year. Group of 8 so likely need large sites that can accommodate 3-4 tents. Seeking input on condition of Red Squirrel Rd and parking /campsites/portages/Maple Mtn hike/what not to miss/etc. I know this is a common route but I haven't seen a recent post on this in Ottertooth for past 10 yrs so thought it worth querying the group.
Route plan as follows:
Day 1: Drive Red Squirrel Rd to parking, put in Sandy Inlet, night 1 on Diamond
Day 2: through Peanut Butter and Banana Bay to Willow Island Lake
Day 3: North to Hobart Lake, get a good site (recommendations??), set up for 2 nights
Day 4: paddle to Tupper, hike Maple Mtn, paddle back to Hobart
Day 5: Hobart back to Lady E (might head north, up and around, then south, depending on wind)
Camp on south LEL
Day 6: East toward Aston L (seeking recommendation which way to get there - via SE Bay/Goss to Sirdevan, or via Walsh/Three Knob/Tundra portage/Sirdevan??), then Bates/Ottley/Lost/Lynx to Aston L (or if we don't make it that far, then camp on Ottley
Day 7: south through Whitefish Bay then Napoleon and back to Ferguson Bay

Alterative for last 2-3 days would be from Hobart south to Willow Island then back to LEL (is it accessible to go thorugh Klutz/Crowley/Cleary Pond to get back to LEL?) then camp on Diamond

Diamond south into Bob Lake

Bob Lake eastbound through Stiles/James/Virginia/Thunderhead and back to Ferguson Bay (is that doable in 1 day?)

Love to hear thoughts about these route options.
