Tha "Full Moon", wer 'tis moon-scape,
when moon-lit shines bright/or to make clear tha whole moon seasonal changen faces/or pictures of
seasonal changes fer all things to cum.
Under tha moons of transformation change,
4 seasons of, sping, summer, Autumns-Fall &
Old Man Winter, wher bouts somethin new & different in tha air happens, which in-turn effects all tha seasons of tha year.
With tha winds of change, all wildlife, fish, plants, flowers, weather, sky, all go wild! |

-ripe sweet strawberry gatheren time
-moccasin flowers under jack pines R full bloom
-Bald Eagles soar high in tha sky
-wildflowers may soon go wild
-"Painted turtle" & sister snaper ready tolay eggs
-Pike, walleye, trout, bass R all good eaten
-tha mosquitoes/flies, all back in force & buzzen

When on the reservation, one refers to June as Enano'-eese'he- the Planting Moon. And soon comes E'omeeše'he, Fattening Up Moon, latter June and first part of July.
Tlingit carver Nathan Jackson's 20 - foot - long - cedar pole is now in it's home in the Museum of the American Indian.
We saw Nathan working on his gift last May at the Saxman Tlingit community near Ketchikan, Alaska.
It will be the Dawn of a New Day to see the pole during the grand opening of the museum this September.
Jackson's totem features the story of canoebear's ' friend ' Kats, the Bear Hunter, a traditional figure in stories of the communities Bear Clan.

It looks like the farthest North I will get this summer is Maine for 4th of July week.
My job of near a quarter century was terminated. ..don't think this board allows the choice words I might use to describe this happening!
Anyway...the big trip is in Sept. to Washington, DC and the museum opening. [ You know I still use the same stuff bags I used on the Mistissibi! One is yellow, one orange, and one brown...still waterproof? Maybe! ]
My art show is on now and if I sell anything [ and even if I don't ], a trip out to our ' ranch ' on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana is a real possibility and long overdue. I saw the Northern Lights out there twice. [ Well at least once. The possible second time was around midnight when we stepped outside of the tipi for a few minutes during an all night Native American Church meeting. Great lights...Northern?...in that direction yes but strangely different from any others I have seen, read about, or been told of. ]

I don't know what this refers to.
It does make me think of some 600 year old Indian corn I planted a few year ago from rare heirloom seeds.
The energy from the sun and the moon made beautiful red and blue kernels!
The Hopi watermellon we planted became ripe then too.
They used to grind the seeds of the watermellon to ' grease ' the flat stone they baked the corn bread on.

wilderness portage route passages.
Not the bestess reader of books & such, but
can read tha un-cummen changen elements
wind weather brings. I can canoe paddle, as long,
as tha day is long. Team orientated up-bringen, always cum-thru in an embbattled clutch, blessed with "hair of tha Bear" & much gamed, to embark into tha deliverance of tha wilds, to readily lay "bench-mark".
After tha fact, books can be writ, yer painted pictures be framed hung, videotape recorded,
followed by camp-fire tall tales with next
full moon risen, & 1's favorate mother-in-law callen new fangle hi-priced, divorce lawyer,
to try to set thins right.
Paul, be all up to U!

Greed and ' the green eyed monster ' ...yes indeed! But the Turtle ' never tiers '! You are so right canoebear.
I tired once in '63 when up North for 9 weeks. ..broke down on a mile portage with my legs stradling a knee high downfall and the canoe on my back...started crying...ugh!
I might not be able to carry a 18 foot wood & canvas canoe a mile with 20 extra pounds of water soaked ribs and sand between the plankings like I did in '63 but the Turtle has an inner strength torely on today.
I'm about to start on Hillbilly's painting of THE CROSS OF THE NORTH!
Remember that thread Bill? John Rowlands etc.
I am so ready to begin this picture.
Almost finished painting my new to me old kayak with designs picked up in Ketchican. Hope I can fit into it! Ha!

wilderness. Ther be a large gene-pool of
experience seasoned talent on 'tis here
Ottertooth. We hav 3-to 4 passable full moons
to make ready. By now we pretty much no
each others strength & weakness.
Maybe we can make a difference along tha way
with a goal/or purpose in mind.
Voyage into untouched, unknown, a historical challenge, paddle lake/river water-way route.
I'll be "Bearer" of yer canoe, if U waver.
I got yer back covered!
Hall, bring yer "Indian Paintbrush"
with & apply paint to Turtles passer-by.
As long as R "Bearings" passage-way thru
Bear Country, I'll stay focused till take-out.
Turtle's need to be round water to stay much alive, Heya!

I am afraid those days are past canoebear. [ a major Northwoods trip...but the Kayak is mostly restored! ]
Sharon and I are planning a trip to Lake Mistissini to visit with an old guide and family.
When we got married 10 years ago, my guides wife made Sharon a pair of runners...smoke tanned moosehide moccasins all hand embroidered.
She and I where so touched!
Sharon met them both and other members of their family at a reunion at Dunmore Keewaydin.
We have corresponded and I keep my letter from Charlot inviting us back for a visit in my Bible. God willing...some day sooner than latter!
I to like reader about the trips the Otterheads take! [ And the canoebears!! ]

Hillbilly...yes I would like to see a few pictures from your trip...especially if you can get a good shot of a certain canoebear!
Would you believe my wife and I finally pulled out the digital camera from it's box, went to the photo store and got batteries and a SD Card!
Next...read the directions.
