Map to the Edge of the World

The actual map, worn and discolored, used for one, or both, of the 1935 and 1939 Rupert River trips. Lake Mistassini is in the lower right corner, Rupert River above the lake and a portion of Eastmain River at the top right corner. The route from Mistassini, along Rupert River to Marten River was hand-drawn in red and can be seen on the enlargements. Note how little was known of the land beyond the main water bodies. Click on guide for an enlargement of that portion of the route.

This is the 1:506,8800 scale Nottaway Sheet of 1927. The base map was drawn from actual travel on the ground by the Geological Survey of Canada prior to 1927.
